"Jesus called them together and said, 'You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,'" - Matthew 20:25-26

SERVANT AND LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE AT CHRIST STREET FELLOWSHIP

Volunteers

Volunteers are servant-hearted members of ChristStreet, who regularly serve in one of the core purposes of the Church. We invite everyone to prayerfully consider how they can serve.

Each volunteer is asked to complete the volunteer class online and sign a volunteer covenant. Volunteers then receive specific training from their MLC ministry leader. This training includes both practical skill development within their ministry area and foundational guidance on serving in the church, including discovering and using the spiritual gifts God has given for the building up of His body (1 Corinthians 12:4–7).

Servant and Leadership Team (SALT)

SALT members are volunteers who have demonstrated a growing faithfulness, servant-heartedness, and leadership gifting within the life of the church and serve on one of the leadership teams of the core purposes of the church.

As individuals serve and grow, the MLC may recognize these qualities and, through prayerful discernment, invite them to take next steps in leadership development. The MLC leader may recommend individuals from within the church body to be considered for the SALT team, followed by a process of shared prayer and discernment.

Prospective SALT members are then invited to go through the extra training needed to be a part of one of the leadership teams of the core purposes of the church: worship, fellowship, discipleship, outreach, next generation ministries, and Sunday service ministries.

Prospective SALT members are required to go through a process of Discipleship training and Emerging Leaders training and agree to the Christ Street Leadership Covenant. The SALT meets several times a year for ongoing training as leaders as well as for times of discernment and planning in certain areas related to their core purpose.  The SALT team is open to growth and may expand as needed to support the ministry of the church.

Ministry Leadership Community (MLC)

The Ministry Leadership Community (MLC) is a subgroup of the SALT team who prayerfully discern God’s will for our church and oversee its core purposes: doctrine and teaching, worship, fellowship, discipleship, outreach, next generation ministries, and the planning and execution of Sunday services.

The MLC is intentionally kept between 11 and 15 members in order to best fulfill its responsibility of spiritual discernment. On the rare occasion that a new member is added, the MLC will identify potential candidates from the SALT (Servant and Leadership Team), followed by a specific process of prayerful discernment within an MLC meeting.

Becoming part of the MLC requires completion of both ELT (Emerging Leaders Team) as well as active participation on the SALT team.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is a subgroup of the SALT team who are responsible for the legal and financial oversight of the church. In accordance with legal requirements, the board must, at present,  consist of a minimum of seven members and remains intentionally small to effectively steward financial decisions with wisdom and discernment.

If a new board member is needed, the MLC will recommend candidates from within the SALT team, followed by a process of prayerful discernment.
